Phobias are irrational fears that can cause huge amounts of distress and anxiety. Such phobias can range from busy or crowded places, driving, flying, vomiting, incontinence, frogs, heights, spiders.....to almost anything. Exposure to such feared objects can cause panic and high levels of anxiety and can really interfere with your daily life.
Symptoms of Phobia
Phobic symptoms can vary but usually we see high levels of anxiety, many thoughts about the feared objects and high levels of avoidance. This can impact on your quality of life and cause many daily restrictions.
“When you explore your fears then you set yourself free.”

Best Therapy Treatments for Phobia
Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment for phobias. The treatment consists of changing your behaviours by dropping behaviours that reinforce the phobia. For example, we may ask someone who is afraid of wasps to spend more time outside and take risks of seeing a wasp. Because of the high anxiety that is involved, the therapy is gradual at the client's own pace. The therapy also challenges the thinking process that often overestimates the threat of the feared object and over time confidence can increase to manage the situation.
